Essenza di Frantoio was born in the heart of the Terra di Bari region, in Bitonto – a place with a millennia-old tradition in olive cultivation and the production of extra virgin olive oil. Passion for quality, respect for nature, and deep cultural heritage are the values that guide us every day.

Bitonto is recognized as a symbol of excellence in olive growing, where olive groves have covered much of the land since the 19th century. Our city developed around olive oil production, once boasting over 200 frantoi (oil mills). Today, this tradition continues with modern technology and a deep respect for the environment.

We work with two emblematic olive varieties:

Cima di Bitonto (also known as Ogliarola barese): produces a delicate oil with almond notes, known for its superior quality.

Coratina: yields a strong oil rich in polyphenols, with a fruity aroma and slightly spicy taste, renowned for its long shelf life.

We are proud to contribute to the promotion of the DOP Terra di Bari olive oil, the largest Protected Designation of Origin in Europe for olive growing.

Our story is also connected to remarkable historical figures, such as Felice Garibaldi, brother of the famous Giuseppe Garibaldi, who played a key role in reviving olive oil production in Bitonto in the 19th century, turning the region into a benchmark for all of Europe.
